This seems like an irregular way of handling announcements. Reasonable companies keep their announcements to themselves until they actually make them.

I don't doubt that they will soon raise cash by selling equity in some fashion. They have to.

That wouldn't surprise me at all. Crane complained, loudly, in his December conference call about short sellers who post in online chat forums 'because they just want to scare people so that they can make money.' So presumably somebody spends their time reading these posts and reporting to him what they find, if he doesn't do it himself.

BTW, in that cc, Crane told listeners that they should just phone him, his CFO, or IIRG if they want to know what is *really* going on. .... presumably so that he can make some money.

I prefer to read the SEC filings instead. It is uncommon to lie in an SEC filing, for two reasons: it would be a violation of the US securities law, and a filing is an archival public document. A phone call on the other hand is neither public nor is it archived, so Crane and IIRG can get away with saying just about anything they like when they've got you on the horn.
