I have portfolio accounts set up for continuous growth and no withdrawals and others set up for income for living expenses. I draw from the Income accounts a regular amount based upon the monthly/quarterly dividends I estimate I'll receive.

There have been times when I've drawn from the taxable "growth" portfolios but not in a while. I now am an age where I need to W/D from my retirement accounts annually (RMD). Usually I have enough cash to do so just from the Cash side which minimizes transactions and, in the taxable accounts, capital gain events.
