The following excerpt was published in The Edmonton Sun, Edmonton, Alberta, on Tuesday, February 10th.

"DIAMOND SEARCH EXPANDED

Three partners looking for diamonds in the Buffalo Hills region of northern Alberta yesterday announced they have doubled their exploration budget for this year to $10 million.

Wayne Hillier, vice-president of exploration for Vancouver-based Ashton Mining of Canada Inc., said yesterday exploration is being ramped up after "very promising" results were uncovered in 1987, when about $5 million was spent.

"There's still a lot more work to be done to determine whether there's any commercial viability in any of the pipes that we've discovered to date," Hillier said yesterday.

"But we believe the results are encouraging enough to warrant increasing the expenditure levels."

The 1998 exploration budget also includes money to buy a 10-tonne-per-hour testing facility from South Africa, which could cost up to $4 million, said Hillier."
