| | | Thanks, Mq, for a wonderful series of posts written in your inimitable, entertaining style.
It’s too easy to accept reality, to acknowledge what John Mearsheimer has found after studying Ukraine for decades, but it is hard to stop a confederacy of Zbiegnew-esque dunces from doing what dunces do.
After studying the latest weapons gift from the US, Germany, etc., it is obvious that a decision has been made to continue the war indefinitely. Riverine patrol boats plus Harpoon weapons systems are designed to keep the Black Sea open, but will take months before they are installed.
More HIMARS systems from the US and similar systems from Germany and France now total 17 of these highly effective rocket batteries have been donated to Ukraine. Not enough to make a difference, but enough to bleed the Russians.
Obviously, we intend to give Russia another Afghanistan/Vietnam. As the world’s arsenal, we can do so.
I thought that once the Russians are effectively established in the Donbas, hostilities might end and negotiations might begin. I don’t think so anymore.
These kinds of kinds of drawn out conflicts have historically been a breeding ground for escalation.
We are racing headlong into the abyss. |
