After Russia attacked it in 2014, and at least the weapon side was pretty limited until that war was greatly expanded in 2022.

I think regular people would be losers (only to a very small extent directly but potentially more going forward) if Russia gets away with grabbing huge chunks of Ukraine, and esp. if it doesn't pay an large sustained price for doing so. In the latter case I think it would make nuclear war more likely not less (although still unlikely).
