Russia invade Ukraine in 2014. There isn't any reasonable dispute of that point. Russia grabbed some of Ukraine's territory then, decided they want to control some more and so chose escalation of the conflict and full scale war similar to how Germany's government chose war over Poland and other places. No this is not a "Putin equal's Hitler" statement. There are no death camps in modern Russia no vast armies of slave laborers, and I think no serious thoughts of matching in to Paris. But Ukraine chose war about as much as Poland did.
