The go to strategy for many shale producers will be to ReFrack existing production units as a more expedient way than to drill a completely new well. The variability of results from any Re Fracks are highly dependent on factors including the time between the original production and the present. Early wells had less efficient Fracks, due to a lack of experience with particular fields. The now technology is far better than those achieved earlier in the game. Many Shale producers went through learning curves in each new field with varying levels of success. Over time well strategies changed to include longer lengths in vertical or depth when it was discovered that many shale fields had benches at variable depths.

Refracking based on accumulated information over time, could assist the shale companies to extend the life and productivity of dollars already spent. With Shale production off by approximately a million barrels a day from top production, refracking could make up for this shortfall off the highs, but may yield accordingly to variables associated with initial productions and methodologies used on a field by field basis.

Expect this strategy to become a feature of company quarterly reporting.
