As designs get more and more into 'deep submicron' the circuit
parasitic capacitance, resistance, and inductance become more
significant. The present data formats used to describe circuit
parameters do not have provision to detail these. The standards
group effort to come up with a format that does and is acceptable
to all subscribing design tool vendors has been ongoing. Notice
that Synopsis, a key vendor, is not in the list. They are smug
with their own proprietary format which they would be glad to
license to the others.

Standards activity like this and VSI and others are part of the
ebb and flow of the electronic business. We are aware of most of
the efforts that might affect us, both through study of the
business and our contacts with fabs and customers. A previous
flurry of appends would have us being irresponsible for not
joining every group engaged in standards activity, but a lot of
this would be equivalent of drivers getting involved with Delco
Electric to agree on the shape of the ignition key.
