Oh, believe me, I know!!!
When I first started trading, I was nailing a company, playing the swings over multiday cycles and was getting fills within a penny for months on end. Friends talked me into playing options since I was small time so it had taken me years to double my account. My very first option trade went against me. I blew up my account and had to start over a few months later.
That was one of the two trades I will never forget. The other was trading day of expiration OEX calls. I was trading size right at the close. I was up big but the position was bigger than my account. I put in a close order and it traded through my limit order and ticked above it but I didn't get a trade notification. Market closed and still no confirmation. I call the broker and they don't show the trade went through and I'm on the hook for a TON of cash settlement. They call the pit trader and let me talk to him along with the broker. Luckily he was honest. He found my order and showed I was due a fill and closed me out. I aged 50 years that day.
