I wonder if / when ‘they’ will announce that Russia has WMD?
Or it might be the case that ‘they’ will instead note that Russian WMD does not work too well if at all.
Am not being political / geopolitical, just making an observation about BIG lies.
In the meantime, observe that leadership is needed. Unclear that refusal to talk with opponents a grand idea when WMDs do work, and likely work well, and pressing such an opponent to the corner is likely not a good idea.
N Korea is an issue because N Korea has issues strongly felt.
Russia is an bigger issue, because it is mega X of N Korea in the worst case.
Suspect both rational, logical, calculating, and deliberating.
Question: are opponents of N Korea & Russia same? Like, what is the plan?
Should the plan be to amp-up conflict with China by conflicts already tee-ed up, suggest first sanity-check best done. The G7 meeting suggests that sanity-check at this waypoint might be good. However I understand there is no off-ramp. None.
Whatever is happening likely shall get expensive quickly, because already so.
Interesting that really seems the one Russian elite (as opposed to Oligarchs whom I know of none) in HK reckons the conflict, in the broadest sense, is about de-Nazification, and does not care for whomever getting in the way. Whether this state of belief is due to propaganda or deliberation or whatever is irrelevant. Only matters that he believes it to be true. Support for Putin solid. Data point of one.
Should the support amongst the Russian elites for Putin’s policy be pervasively strong, state of whoa-whoa-whoa! exists.
In the meantime it would be unfortunate if the US midterm ends up being all and only about domestic issues at a juncture that all that matters might end in flashes.
Ukraine is or is becoming pivotal, as the cases were with Austria-Hungary and Spain / Japan, pre-WWI and pre-WWII respectively.
Watching a slow-motion train wreck, I sense. Might accelerate at any time. Not priced-in, I reckon.
Worst fear, that some little country volunteers to be an example of what could happen, made necessary so that all players might hesitate, pause, reflect, and step back.
Conventional hypersonic weaponry changes the calculus of proto-nuke war I fear, and not fully appreciated yet.
Instead of phoning Xi that is supposedly upcoming, Biden should instead call Putin. Problem might turn out to be that Biden is not actually Biden should the rumors / propaganda be true, and that Blinken / Sullivan / Clinton be Biden.
Let’s watch. |
