For such a small item, it can boil a big kettle faster then anything else I know of.



I lent it to a relative about 20 years ago and they managed to ruin it by letting a fire get out of control. Later I replaced the wick (a length of string in the fuel delivery tube that allows the pressurised vapour to pass) and it works like new.

The building where I live was constructed about the same time the USA was created. so we can do low tech if it comes to it.

Here is a newer version, but it looks as if they dont make them anymore.
