Well, my thought is "talk is cheap" from all NSCP supporters,
or MSFT haters. When it comes to pay up, i.e. buy out NSCP to
keep the opposition alive, few can come up with the nerve or cash.
Two billion is a lot of money from any one firm, especially smaller
ones like SUNW, in stocks or cash. Since none of the supporters'
stocks are way overvalued to finance a stock-swap, like when NSCP
was buying up others, a deal is going to be tough. If IBM don't
buy them out I think you are right that we will only see
"alliances" or "partnerships". We could also see some deals where
insiders that hold a lot of NSCP stocks, sell them to others for
cheap in return for some infusion of support. Remember that more
than 50% of the stocks are not floated.
