I totally get this.
But it is a mistake imo for Republicans to cave to Dem's positions, imo.
What would stop them from applying the same tactics to anyone else -- attacking early with lies like the Dossier, but also personal attacks regarding his businesses, and once having taken office, an unimaginable number of lies against him. He was thick-skinned, because he dishes it out -- and has to be able to take it as well. One day during the Mueller investigation, I actually heard CNN claim they had a story with "22 unnamed sources". Incredible. No, really, incredible. As in NOT credible.
Regardless of what anyone says there was a cabal, a conspiracy, between the media and the Democrat party. Maybe it was a "quiet" conspiracy, but all the same.
And I know few care and few believe it, but the 2020 election was by any reasonable measure "stolen". It wasn't a mistake, it was being out-politicked, it wasn't honest campaigning, it wasn't fraud, it was flat-out cheating. And they cannot be tolerated.
If you beat Trump by cheating, he has to come back and drill you with it. I like DeSantis a lot and would obviously support him if he's the candidate. And I like Pompeo and could support him.
But the country, IMO, needs to stand up against the Democrats for what they did. I don't much care about Trump's age, although you have to be concerned about anyone that age dropping dead unexpectedly. Maybe he has lost something cognitively, and if so, we'll find that out during the election. Not that it ever stopped anyone from getting elected lol.
I have problems with convicting Trump of the charges in the hearing when his behavior was really correct given the circumstances: The election was stolen, it was his responsibility to do his best to stand up to it, and he did as well as he could. I don't believe he violated any law.
So, I'm behind him but will cheerfully support any Republican against any Democrat. I've voted for Democrats in the past but I'm confidence there is no way that will ever happen going forward.
My 2c worth there but I'm done rewarding bad behavior. (I would love it if Rand Paul was running because I think he'd be a great president, as well). |
