Are you sure there was a thorium reactor at Oak Ridge?

Looking at the first couple of reactors. - Chicago Pile 1, and X-10 at Oakridge used. Apparently both used natural Uranium, so they needed tons of the stuff, and were still low power so that they could be air cooled. Neither one was created to generate electricity but for research and to create plutonium for the Manhattan Project. But maybe there was an early experiment with thorium reactors.
