If they were in need of such an astronomical volume of help, why hadn’t NATO worked out a deal and prevented this bloody war??

Stupidity and arrogance - and grabbing hot coals with other people’s hands.

NATO are not the ones who are dying by the thousands and whose countries are getting wrecked.
