Some scraps of info on Vixel from the March '98 Red Herring magazine. "Plans to release high-volume management software for the hubs early this year. Future hubs, also due in 1998, will have switchlike capabilities? Will introduce a Fibre Channel switch early this year. ".....

"Received seed funding of $1 million in 1991 from musician and producer Herb Alpert."........

So this co. want to move up the food chain into the switch market.

........"Mr Aronoff says that Fibre Channel "has already been done". But Chris Schaepe of Weiss, Peck and Greer thinks it's "really statring to heat up," although it's not as crowded as GE because employees with both networking and storage skills are scarce"..........
