Since you have been around the block a few times, you may be able to shed light on a question I have regarding "rights offerings" (as it applies to holders of common stock ).

It seems to me that in most cases, they are nothing but an attempt at management to maintain control of a company. If a stock is so low that it is "below" value, than why doesn't management address the issues at why it is low rather than wasting their time on rights offerings.

I think it is rare that you see a company taken out for less than its intrinsic or justifiable value. Can you tell me what I am missing here (besides the boat) thanks
