I just never had that experience, nor have I heard any of that from my friends or clan.

We all feel we got good educations from the public schools!!??

Were there a few bad teachers, of course.

But in the main I felt they were quite good.

None of this was about you or your life path, or whether you are an elite. My post was about the necessity of some of the material (which you didn't address at all) and a lack of accountability for the poor content in many of the classes that were broadly labeled "humanities". This percentage of the curriculum increased as a a fraction of units required the three different times I attempted college, two of which I only completed with my wife's encouragement because of the frustrations which mostly came from the HUMANITIES bullshit courses. Some were good - my American History - taught by someone who had done original research on letters between Hamilton and Jefferson. There were MANY discouraging moments though.

If you have an interest in a subject it is disappointing to have to wait almost two years to start learning anything NEW about it. This is not how education is done in most European countries. The introductory courses in the US are so impacted that most people get to take crap for the first year. If one had an interest, the interested student probably knew most of that introductory material already - thats my experience.
