U.S. chipmaker onsemi agreed to invest 1.4 trillion won ($1 billion) into building a new research center and manufacturing facility in Bucheon, Gyeonggi, to produce power chips by 2025.

Bucheon is where onsemi is converting their existing fab to SiC production to support current production. In the past, their CEO has said that they don't need to build big new fabs since they can convert existing production so perhaps this is a new R&D facility plus further conversion?

OTOH, that seems like a big number to convert an existing fab.
