Rogan is a Democrat. He is a great interviewer, but he knows he cannot stay up with Trump. He has far less trouble interviewing comedians and MMA fighters because that's what he knows. Last week he did an excellent interview with Marc Andreessen (co-developer of Mosaic). It was great, but Rogan started expressing his belief computers were becoming sentient. He actually believed that we are nearing a time when computers functioned like brains. Andreessen gently explained to him that we are nowhere near that technology, and won't be anytime soon. But Rogan's uninformed, not stupid. I think Rogan understands where his lane ends, and interviewing Trump is a lane all by itself.
