Given the current tensions with Russia I suspect that each Soviet submarine capable of launching ballistic missiles or other similar devices is currently being shadowed by one of our stealthy attack submarines and could be taken out if the Russian submarine were to launch a missile. Depending on how such engagement might be perceived, the start of WW III would then be a possibility.
