One of the first and most important things I learned about my dog right after I rescued her was that she always responded to what I wanted if I hugged her and asked her nicely.

In the first few days that I walked her, she would often stand still and not go back into the house. I use to pick her up and take her in. I refused to pull her on the leash. Then one day and got down on my hands and knees and hugged her and said please Minnie let's go up and she went up willingly. I knew at that point that love would win her over.
