>>You are right about amati's position as niche player but so what?<<
We don't want to lose you too albert !
Dolby never sold a cassette deck, yet their name is on every stereo cassette deck in the world. If DMT becomes the standard by which the world uses ADSL, and given that Amati makes (is making, will make) complete end to end solutions, in 3 years who's product will be in high demand? Most likely one who's name is on every chip or modem.(R) A little splash of cold water and you'll be fine.

As for MT I guess we should ask if him WSTL has got a VDSL product in the works ? WSTL is not in the battle for the VDSL standard either. Go buy what you want MT, it's your money, and you can shove it in my face all day, I'll use it to by more Amati on dips.
I am not saying WSTL is not a good by at $24, which is where I bought it at in Jan. and sold very shorly after it hit $83 before the split took place. WSTL is a good buy, even at $28-30, But let someone else find the bottom.
PAIR was another good buy in Jan at $20-35, it hit $119 this summer and split, I had no position there. We have a number of PAIR HDSL Modems here at The Cape. Pair is still a great buy.
All three are long term holds, and maybe play the peaks & valleys with a small portion, or not. Of course the above is my opinion, do your own research, before jumping into the DSL wildfire.
