| | | Some of us watch it because we want to understand the noise the morons are listening to, just like some of us don't think everything is black and white -- in other words, we don't think all Republicans are morons, uneducated white people from the South whose god is satan or whatever. Some of us think it's important to understand multiple sides of a coin, even if they seem (or are) illogical, unprincipled, or even mostly false. We aren't so fragile that we need to believe our "truth" is the only truth.
Kinda simple really, but I understand the comfort that comes from thinking you know everything and the need to lash out rather than taking the time to think before blurting out extreme ideas. Trumpians are great at that, but many extremists on the other side are just as accomplished at the tactic. It's not new, but the numbers of folks doing it on both sides is very new, very troubling, and the root of our current mess, I think. |
