It's not entirely logical, but I agree with both of you.

The extremes would like to bring about the collapse of the USA, in my experiences with such people.

Both seem to have a bias toward conspiracy theories, and distrust toward media and journalists who do not support their political or social mission. They do not correct themselves for a lifetime when evidence is overwhelming as with the collapse of the WTC towers or that Russia is good guys merely going after Nazi's in Ukraine, to save Ukraine.

Anyone remember the hyper arguments on SI where the emerging RW extremist biased right wingnuts defended the Iraq invasion because they "had WMD and Saddam was behind 911"? Is there a parallel to Ukraine and Russian + RW western support? I say yes. Currently, there appears to be bias toward Russian spin on the far left too. Especially with the hated Biden administration.

HOWEVER, there is a false equivalency too.

The extremist left appears to me to be fragmenting and diminishing in a bubble of analytical word soups and reacting to micro aggressions. As well as old vs. young.

The far right is rising and building more coalitions, with guns and a tremendous media presence from Tucker to Alex Jones to various corners of the internet. As well as censorship, fascistic demagogues, and turning US History into a narrative of confederate bullshit.
