Exactly. And, unless we can get our house in order, something WILL happen. Roman republic lasted for about 500 years - longer than any other constitutional republic. Towards the end, they couldn’t get anything done. They just kept fighting among themselves, eventually culminating in a series of bloody civil wars. There is a Russian made limited TV series - Trotsky - with subtitles, a few years ago it was on Netflix. If it becomes available, I’d like to see it again. Very well done. Acting is as solid as can be. This site has a nice 2 minute trailer. justwatch.com
