They both mean no religion.

What makes you think an atheist is any less tolerant than a secular person?

An absolutist atheist MIGHT accept secular but ALL secularists accept atheists AND religions (and in between.) By definition.

Our young country is not built on atheism or Christianity or even deism; it is built on tolerance of beliefs and a wall between those beliefs and government UNDER THE LAW. You can't sacrifice a virgin or stone an adulterer or non binary person for example in the name of religion.

Many atheists current and past think religion is the enemy of reason and science. Some, like Richard Dawkins, call religious training before adulthood "child abuse." I'm not sure I disagree personally but implementing an atheist authoritarianism that I prefer from my educated elitism is worse IMO. I don't know how to attack broadly and focus on ending religions without a brutal revolution I cannot support.

The "Cultural Revolution" and the "Great Leap Forward" in China were colossal failures that endure - see Tibet for example.

The fact that the SCOTUS and GOP want to spin the first amendment and establish a Christian US theocracy is an entirely different subject. This should be the focus of our fight. It is what the founders worried about when they wrote the separation clause.
