Russia Accidentally Shoots Down Their Own $36M Su-34 Bomber, Ukraine Claims (newsweek.com)

Some thoughts:

a) This was originally posted on RuZZian social media. The guy who recorded the video thought the downed plane was Ukrainian, but the video showed RuZZian inscriptions on the wreckage.

b) Ukraine doesn't have any Su-34 bombers, at least not according to Wikipedia.

Ukrainian Air Force - Wikipedia

c) Ukrainian pilots aren't (or shouldn't be) flying over Russian-occupied territory. It's just too dangerous.

d) I think that an S-300 or S-400 operator mistook the Su-34 for a HIMARS rocket. That normally shouldn't happen, as the operator should have confirmed beforehand whether that radar blip corresponding to the Su-34 was friendly or not.

e) It seems even the small number of HIMARS launchers is having a huge impact on the battlefield. Another win for the Western military industrial complex.
