WFoL,
There is nothing utopian about "zero carbon" Plants need carbon in the atmosphere to survive. Without plant life, we would be deprived of food and oxygen. California is operated by idiots.
I keep reminding people that CO2 is not a pollutant, but rather a necessary compound in the entire cycle of life.

People think that extra CO2 in the atmosphere is going to lead to a global catastrophe, but that's stupid.

I have always characterized the environment as a constantly shifting equilibrium. Yes, you can shift that equilibrium by increasing one or more of the reagents involved, but you're not going to kill the environment that way.

Heck, even the environment survived an asteroid that killed off the dinosaurs. Such a catastrophic event is not something we should allow, of course, but it's an illustration of how the environment can heal itself even after a catastrophe.

Given that, a little extra CO2 in the air isn't going to destroy the planet.
