I didn't hate the ending of the Sopranos like many, but it was certainly unusual. Didn't love it either.

I liked The Americans as a series, but I'd always hoped they'd be caught at the end. To me those characters were anti-heroes at best.

I knew they wouldn't get caught because long running series seldom end on a downer for the main characters (can't think of a single one ever ending that way, actually), but I hated the idea of Russian or any other foreign spies in the U.S. not being caught, tried and convicted, or killed outright.

Yes, it was painful at the end for the parents, obviously, but they seemed far too casual about giving up their kids and leaving them behind. That felt false to me. I don't even recall them feeling much emotion about it.

My ex and I watched it together and she always wanted them to get away with it, like I'm sure the vast majority of viewers did.
