Re: Young Folk Portfolio ... Portfolio Adjustment

I have decided that there are too many positions in this portfolio to be able to build up in size at a reasonable rate based on the amount of cash going into the portfolio each month, currently $600. If I can raise the dividend amount coming in every month, along with the monthly cash contribution, I should be able to build positions more quickly early in this person's investing time-frame so that compounding can have a more powerful affect years from now.

With this in mind, I sold the positions in MS, PRU and TROW. This amounted to around $7K in cash which I put to work immediately.

A full position in this portfolio is $4K and the following positions were the smallest sized positions in this account (Roth). The purchases made below brought each of the positions up to a minimum of $2.5K each in value.

LSI - 12 shares
PLD - 11
SYK - 5
PH - 2
TSCO - 2
MKC - 2
APD - 1
HSY - 1

The following buys brought each of these positions up to the full position size of $4K each.

CAT - 1
SHW - 1
LLY - 1

Next Monday I will sell one more company (BMO) and use those proceeds to add to some of the companies above as I want to build each position up in size to a full position at $4k each. Once that is achieved, I can raise the value of a full position to $6K each.

I don't want to own more companies, I want to own more of the companies we already have.
