AIDS was declared a "global health emergency" a few decades ago.

In 2016, the Zika virus was declared a "global health emergency."

The WHO declares a "global health emergency" anytime an outbreak occurs on the scale large enough to warrant international intervention.

Doesn't mean we're returning back to lockdowns, or that children as young as five are going to be forced to vaccinate against monkeypox (although kids are getting it, which notable anti-vaxxer Marjorie Taylor Greene mentioned ...)
