I am curious, and I suspect I've asked this before, is there a time limit as to how long it can wonder around before making it to the D point? Surely a stock cannot just go sideways forever between ABCD points for a pattern to be valid. You have the 30 bar rule, but that is for after the pattern completes. What about between the letters?
