Addi as I mentioned here a few days ago AMAT would disappoint re: future expectations.

Today's announcement should come as no surprise to anyone. Orders in the semi-equip sector slowed in Dec. and Jan. And even AMAT depends on orders.

I've been goofing around in the semi-equip threads as of the preceding weekend because I was not sure whether to hold on or sell my semi-equips before the AMAT earnings announcement. Here's a couple of posts there:

That's a nice thread. There are also lots of dissenting opinions to my bearishness for the semi-equip sector over the next several months...

----

The interesting counterpoint to all of this is how the stock prices in the sector will react. On recent disappointments they have actually performed very well - SFAM and VECO are the most recent. We shall see soon enough though! However I dumped my semi-equip shares anticipating a lower BTB (and going down). There will be better buying opps. later this year...

The other interesting question is how any of this will damage LSI. I think we've had the picture perfect surge on heavy volume, drop on light volume, surge on heavy volume thing will LSI.

Also one could really make the argument that the hurting in that area of the world has nothing to do with logic and is entirely DRAM related. Demand for logic is strong.

I like LSI to keep going up - if not tomorrow then soon...

Listen to the AMAT c.call: 1-800-642-1687 reservation 850463 - likely will begin around 8:30 EST or so maybe a bit later.
