Whoa! Two good weeks for the general market in a row. The Biotech indices qualify as “not bad,” maybe even sort of good in that they are both in the black, despite under-performing the overall market.

The big winning stock for the week is AYLA, doubling over the last five days. But this as after being the worst performing stock for the week in the previous report, a drop of 31%, where it ended up on the third worst performer YTD. So even after its big move, it is still 80% in the red YTD. And all of this without any substantive external events to justify these swings. (Though this link from Yahoo finance to InvestorPlace mentions a short squeeze (!):
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/why-ayala-pharmaceuticals-ayla-stock-152213810.html

Portfolio performance wasn’t even up to sort of good, with weekly losses of -1.7 - -1.8% in the average - median. Of course this hides a very wide range of performance. The top two portfolios for the week, JFM WINTER and BULBAMAN, managed a return of over 7%, though that was not enough for either to crack/return to the YTD top ten list. The fifth best return for the week, RKRW, put them just over the edge to return to the top ten for the first time since March. Good going.

I’m in third place, but I don’t think I have any tricks up my sleeve to make me a winner this year. ;-)
