This company at one time threatened to really blow the flat-panel display biz wide open with an (amorphous? polycrystalline?) diamond-coated emitter. The trick was that diamond emitters give you the most zip for a given applied voltage. The problem was in the fabrication, I believe. This release seems to claim to have solved the fabrication problem, altho I am not sure what form the carbon covering the emitter now takes.

They also claimed to have made significant advances in the phosphor department that (I presume) would complement their hot emitter. I also remember that a claimed advantage of the initial approach was that it allowed a cheaper diode (two-element?) structure for each address-- they are now talking about triode(threee element?) units.

I am looking forward to a clarifying EMail from Sara Breuer, smooth Trey's replacement. I will post whatever I get. I am no engineer, so ask me no questions and I'll tell you no lies.

This could be something.
