Recent roundup:

Netflix "Capitani" is a Luxembourg-based detective series (not kidding) that was dubbed very smoothly into English. The first season is 12 half-hour episodes that arc into one another. If the same show were set in the UK, you really wouldn't notice much difference. Recommended.

APV Acorn "Alibi" is a chance to see Michael Kitchen (Foyle) with more than one or two facial expressions. It's a very cleverly plotted and sometimes witty story of ordinary people coping with events that just spiral out of control.

"A Cotswold Death" from 1970 features Timothy Spall almost 40 years before the role he played in "The Last Bus." This time he is the local country copper shown up by a Scotland Yard expert solving a classic English country house murder with a few twists.

Another series from that era that we never watched was the original "Upstairs, Downstairs" that aired when I was a teenager uninterested in UK parlor TV. It is very well done and holds up very well. Have to admit I like it better than Downton Abbey so far.
