Well, Jim, it is just very nice to see you over here!!! When I started the Feelings thread I hoped all the nice, sensitive guys would lower the barriers to their inner selves after exhausting days of making tons of money short-term trading or something, and EMOTE, and the lovely ladies would hang around and console them!! But like most threads at SI, people come and go, energy waxes and wanes, moods occasionally get surly or silly, and just about anything goes over here. Talking about your feelings ALL the time is kind of boring, and you end up feeling all naked and raw, anyway.

But definitely, this IS a place to talk about real feelings rather than make-believe ones, but only if you want to do that. It is not quite so unremittingly light and frivolous as Penni likes to keep the Rambi thread, although some of the same people hang out in both places. We also talk about serious things like politics and religion and witchcraft and global warming, and I like to share poetry sometimes, and once in awhile a recipe. Do you have any really excellent vegetarian recipes to share? ARE there any really good vegetarian recipes, except for Alexa's enchilladas, (which I wish she would recontribute, since I cannot seem to find the old post).

Now, about your valentine present dilemma. Don't just surprise your wife by stealthfully crossing the bathroom in your birthday suit and jumping in the shower with a big shout or anything, Jim. You wouldn't want her to have a heart attack!!! Tickets for an exotic, romantic vacation are always wonderful, or a brochure for a hotel or bed and breakfast where you have booked a weekend for two.

All I want for Valentine's day are some licorice all sorts in a pretty box, and some plastic clothing outfits for my Pez collection. The first Valentine's day after I met my husband-to-be, he didn't really understand the ritual because he is not American, and was also pretty new to romance. So he waited until pretty late in the day, and then tried to find me some flowers, but all that was left were blue carnations, and so he brought me a bunch. I smiled inside when he gave them to me, because they were so sweet but not very pink or red like I was expecting. But now for some reason the floral industry has stopped dying carnations blue, and they are all I ever want for Valentine's day, because they remind me of that year we fell in love.

Anyway, is there anything you'd like to talk about?
