Other significant good news

The resellers agreement and partnership with IONA is significant because there are only two major players in the Java market with Object Request Brokers (ORBS). This partnership made the IONA stock news today and is the only recent news listing partnerships for this company. IONA is expected to do well with Orbix and is trading at a PE of 78. The only real competition for CORBA compiant ORB's comes from Visgenic.

Also significant are the enhancements made to the VisualWorks product line. The most significant are the parcel improvements which directly attack developers greatest concern about Smalltalk - memory footprint. Since Java is interperative and many devlopment environments also have large footprints, I would not count VisualWorks out of the license picture.

Finally there is Parts for Java professional that provides some level of database persistence support and version control. These improvements may allow ObjectShare to target fortune 500 companies. Although Parts for Java pro is a long way from the major Smalltalk environments, it is right up there with Java development environments.

I was a bit surprised to see that Frost was put on hold pending customer funding, but at least ObjectShare is looking at costs very closely.

Finally, another individual investor (under a management company name) has purchased over 3/4 million shares. Playing with other peoples money may not result in the same level of diligence as when you invest your own money.

The last few months have been full of very good news after more than a year of major screw-ups, changing strategic directions, and the foolish purchase of Digitalk. Unfortunately the stock price has not followed, since analyst seem to be looking more at the earnings and revenue growth than the products and strategic direction.

What does it take to get a boost in the stock price here?
