Candle stick: pretty strident sarcasm from a retired, independently wealthy former stock jockey. If I were the schoolkid you describe, I would probably take offense--instead I'll just dismiss you as a noisy lightweight.
One thing I would agree with is your time allocation comment. If I were sitting in my office, playing with a chat page, I probably would fire myself. It just so happens that I have been on the road for the last ten days, visiting portfolio companies and I took my laptop along. Sitting in hotels, company lobbies and airports lacks much in the way of intellectual stimulation, so I thought I might add a little fundamental insight to this forum. My firm, Private Capital Management, Inc., is Qualcomm's largest institutional investor (you can look that up on Spectrum). My firm's track record is readily available (you can look that up on Mobious). My affiliation is documented in the firm's ADV (you can get that from the SEC). And the accuracy of my fundamental insight into Qualcomm can be documented through the Frezza Forum CDMA archives, where Bill F., Ira Brodsky and I staged a debate on an intellectual plain slightly higher than your fascinating calibration of the next down tick.
I recognize that this missive has probably already exceeded your attention span.. Fine. For what it is worth, I don't expect to change anyone's mind, nor to tell anyone what to do with their capital. However, in times of uncertainy, some people--particularly those with investment timelines longer than their whatnot--appreciate a cogent analysis of the fundamentals. My firm has been QC's largest shareholder for over six years; we've lived through ups and downs and will persevere through this setback. Truly great companies come along infrequently. |
