Oh, gee, Alex, I don't know exactly what to say. I am no expert on the Middle East, either. I was listening to the PBS news in the background while noodling around here a little while ago, and I am not sure who was speaking, but the discussion was about the fact that the U.S. is now ready to deal with a post-Saddam government in Iraq. We KNOW all the talking heads on PBS are experts, so of course that is the final word on the subject!! My own personal belief is that almost anything would be better than Saddam, and we all know I am a pinko leftist non-violent Commie symp or something, so he must be BAD!!!! Hey, I wonder how Jane Fonda feels about Saddam??

Well, being such a hopeless environmentalist Greenpeacer, I think we should definitely become very much less dependent upon oil from the Middle East. As long as we are so pathetically needy, we will be sleeping around in plenty of sleazy political beds!!!

And I don't think the Arabs would be nearly so surly and resentful if we had not had such a hand in jamming a new Jewish state in their midst. That was a disaster which never should have happened. Of course, I firmly believe that the prejudices by religious people--Protestants and Catholics--in Europe against the Jews pretty much ensured they would have to end up somewhere as remote as the middle of the Arabian desert, and I will also emphatically say that this is because of misinterpretation of the New Testament AND the esteemed Dr. Hakeem's theory of hatred which was fomented at the time of Martin Luther.

Oh, one more thing--Iran is becoming much more moderate. My own theory of Islamic extremism is that while it occasionally seems like a good idea, it is so horrible to live under that much restriction that the people rise up, as particularly the young have done recently in Iran, and demand more freedoms. Of course, if our president wasn't always pulling his wee wee out of his pants and waving it around, and if we were not the Great Satan because of our support of Israel against the Palestinians who were living there happily when they were so rudely rounded up and forced into camps, the entire situation might be a lot more balanced and peaceful in the Middle East.
