In some sense yes, and may be worse; the worst redneck jackasses I've seen anywhere in the world were in Australia. And they are plebeian compared to cosmopolitan duelers of Europe and North America.

But if she is staying in Sydney, she should be fine. Also Ozzies are very easy going and good natured. Once you get to know them and they get to know you, life is great. So a lot has to do with how well you blend in.

And in terms of future economic potential, Australia is my number one pick in the world. Even ahead of Canada, which I think has amazing future.
