A few tens of billions of extra spending in the US might just make our problems worse, esp. considering who would be directing the spending. If your thinking either tax cuts of that amount or some effort to reduce the deficit, look who's in charge now and tell me how you think it would go (not to mention that even if well directed it would be a drop in the bucket, noticeably less than one part per thousand of government spending.
