(Yes I understand its war there and they might not have been able to properly get the lion to some better place, but "left with friends" doesn't seem like there was even much of an effort, and they probably shouldn't have had the lion in the first place. Looks like the friends didn't keep any control of it with it "taking a leisurely stroll between summer cottages".
