37-hours flight n transit-stop was very disorienting
19 hours layover in doha was brutal but for the hot shower, food selection, and time with the coconut
staying at a small neighbourly hotel close to the Met here in the Big Apple but given need to do this, that and the other, including getting the coconut her prescription for contact lens etc, have yet to visit the museums we were aiming for
running out of time so skipping the museums
did and am doing meet & greet of family & friends, much more important
neat that most of the meet & greet are of folks for the first time
tomorrow we head to college town and shall acclimatise for 3-days before helping coconut to move into the dorm and she shall run off to live on a farm the next day with some of her cohort.
I head south the day after I move the nut in and she is with her dorm mates (5). the nut reminded me that she pulled a single, not a double, and so 'need' her own removable wall paper, rug, and and and. she is actually pretty sensible and went through amazon to compile list of stuff to activate 'send' once she is moved in. she realises that everything she gets she needs to pack at end of school year.
she does consult with me, particularly on class selections.
the trip is fun.
I shall then leaving the nut to her farming experience and go quite a ways south before going quite a ways northwest, and eventually head back to HK by a 41-hours routing and into quarantine, now reduced from 14 to 7 and to 3 days. The entire tripping shall take ~30 days, but given the pacing of flights, tempo of transits, and number of time zone swaps, altogether quite disruptive and not too gentle. my friends from disparate locations are gathering at the two cities I shall visit for get-togethers.
been eating breakfast at a neighbourhood diner and getting reacquainted w/ the concept of american portion size, very easy to get used to :0)
