Larry, i asked several SGI/A/W folk to comment on mr Bishop's comments, and the sense i get is that there is much more NT on the horison for graphics oriented SGI users than i had dared to consider previously. the good news is that i truely believe those who say that SGI's visual pc will be so far above what even die-hard wintel fanatics can imagine at their waxiest. the fact that mr Bishop has broken the mould and acknowledges there are two grim quarters ahead is encouraging, in that SGI managers now have the guts to be truthful. imagine the transition issues, with the implication that we are all going to wake up July first to see things never before wittnessed by members of the general public. and all of us A/W users, are being fitted for a new windowing system, free of Motif and X. face facts vincent, they say, don't get too attached to your new Octane, you'll look out of style in a year or two. hey, i reply, i can tell people it's a server.
