All I can tell you that in the decades of Shepherd training, including rather extreme S&R, army & police training, obstacles higher than 6ft were generally frowned upon not because of the way up but because of the way down. Yes, there were obstacles higher than that but always with an elevated landing site.

It is simply economics with these dogs. Thy are very expensive “tools” with a rather short service life. 6 maybe 7 years on average without exposing them to unnecessary stunts.

BTW, another popular brand of extreme service dogs, Malinois, seem to be ok with slightly higher heights with less weight and higher muscle mass preventing joint damage.
