HI Bernie,

We had our second BLT from the garden last night. Early girl tomatoes are now ripening.

We've had a bumper crop of Zucchini from a single plant. Zucchini loafs have been baked and vacuum packed with a new sealer. Chicken soup with char and peppers from the garden. We've put up 50 pints of Bread and Butter pickles. 90 quarts of sauerkraut have been canned with a lot more to water bath.

My jalapeno peppers are slow to bud - I started them from seed this year. Bought a few plants and they are loaded with thumb size peppers. Jan will make l jalapeno jelly soon.

We bought a case of peaches (that are ripening for a few more days) and will peel and cut those for the freezer. We will do Peach jam with finely diced jalapeno peppers and serrano peppers, and a new recipe for peach salsa - very good.

It's a busy time and it will get busier as the tomatoes start coming on.

Jan has San Marzano paste tomatoes and Amish paste tomatoes on plants that are 6 feet tall and loaded with fruit. We need another 30 days of heat and/or an indian summer into October.

My Early Girls are 6 feet tall and now yielding the first blooms on the lower parts of the plant.

We've had very nicely timed rains. Corn is tall and soy beans look very good. My land has had a third cutting of alfalfa and there will be an unusual fourth cutting this fall.

Everyone had sufficient fertilizer and it appears the crops are going to be a bumper harvest. First harvest here brought wheat in at 50 bushels per acre plus (strong).

Now to put a deer in the freezer and we'll be self sufficient on many things. Nice to go shopping and only need beer and wine.

Bob
