Re: Young Folk Portfolio ... Portfolio Management

In the comment that this one is linked to (1042) I stated the following:

>> I have decided that there are too many positions in this portfolio to be able to build up in size at a reasonable rate based on the amount of cash going into the portfolio each month, currently $600. If I can raise the dividend amount coming in every month, along with the monthly cash contribution, I should be able to build positions more quickly early in this person's investing time-frame so that compounding can have a more powerful affect years from now. <<

With this in mind, I'm trying to get the portfolio down to 50 positions so today I sold AMGN and SYK. I also have a few high yielding assets that when they become overweight, I will trim them back to a full position. In this portfolio, a full position is $4,000. With this in mind I trimmed ARDC and EXG back to a full position.

This gave me the proceeds to add to quite a few assets and I added anywhere from 1-3 shares per company as I wish to slowly build each of the companies up to a full position. All of the following add on buys today brought every one of these companies just up over a 3/4 sized position.

Today I added to:

STE .. DHI .. PH .. SPGI .. TU .. CTAS .. HSY .. MKC .. TSCO .. AWK .. APD .. DPZ .. RYLD .. XYLD.

I still have some cash to put to work and will probably do so tomorrow.

I did not take the market or valuations into consideration. Since I am using a dollar cost average strategy I didn't want a 1 or 2 share purchase to be the biggest decision to be made. It was more important for me to just keep adding a few shares at a time.
