Laith Marouf has been seething with open hatred for Jews and others for years. If the Trudeau government only just found this out, it’s criminally negligent. If it knew all along and didn’t care until there was a public furor, it’s something worse than that.

An update on this story. “Trudeau government claim outrage at ‘anti-racism’ consultant they were praising as recently as April,” by Tristin Hopper, National Post, August 22, 2022:
Top Trudeau government officials are claiming to be blindsided by the revelation that they awarded a $130,000 “anti-racism” contract to a man whose social media accounts are saturated with racial slurs and taunts, but even the barest bit of a Google search could have confirmed that Laith Marouf had a well-established history of hateful remarks.
Ahmed Hussen, the minister in charge of Canadian Heritage, did not name Marouf in a statement Sunday that only referred to “this individual,” who he said stands against “everything our government, and our country, stand for.” A day later, Hussen announced that Marouf’s funding had been cut.
And yet, only five months ago, Hussen’s personal endorsement was featured in a press release issued by Marouf’s own Community Media Advocacy Centre.
In the April 14 statement, Marouf spoke of his federally funded, cross-Canada tour to deliver “anti-racism” seminars to Canadian broadcasters, and thanked Hussen’s department for “the trust imposed in us.”
A direct quote by Hussen said “our government is proud to contribute to the initiative.”
At the time of the statement, Marouf had already seen his Twitter account suspended on the grounds of “hateful conduct” and the promotion of violence — a suspension that he publicly blamed on the “Zionist lobby.”
Among other tweets, Marouf claimed Israel was the creation of “White Jews who adopted Nazism.” He referred to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as the head of an “Apartheid” colony. Irwin Cotler — a Jewish-Canadian and former Liberal justice minister — was called the “Grand Wizard of Zionism” and a man who “looks like a dick without makeup.” In July 2021, Marouf said that “Jewish White Supremacists” deserve only a “bullet to the head.”… |
